This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Un Climat de Desarroi?
Although the numbers are disputed (they often are), tens of thousands of people across France, recently protested, about their country's lack of coverage of the climate crisis ( https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/mar/12/tens-of-thousands-take-part-in-climate-protests-across-france ). It's currently the runup to the French Presidential elections. The protesters noted, however, that the climate crisis only accounted for 1.5% of talking points in the media coverage (28th February -6th March) of the election campaigns. The issue certainly deserves far more attention, especially as Russian oil and gas are currently being used as political weapons. Having said that, at least the French can protest. Planned changes in UK law, if passed, will make many environmental protests jailable offenses! Simply being 'too noisy' might get protesters into trouble.
