This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Scots On the Spot?
The UK's Climate Change Committee (CCC) maintain that urgent action is needed by the Scottish Government, to adapt to wetter winters, rising sea levels and extreme weather events (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/mar/15/scotland-not-adapted-to-climate-crisis-says-advisory-committee). The CCC note that, although Scotland has the most far-reaching UK pledges on climate change, government policies to actually hit its targets are 'vague and weak'. The CCC rightly judge that the Scottish government's 'stalled' actions, poses risks to people, infrastructure and business. In spite of its apparent antipathy to the man, Scottish government must have had a master class from the UK's PM. World class on pledges: dreadful on performance!
