This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. Things Are Tough For UK Butterflies
Native (some species fly in) UK butterflies were badly affected in 2021 by April frosts and the wettest May for more than 50 years. Folk are being urged to join the butterfly count from 16th July to the 8th of August (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/jul/16/a-tale-of-woe-uk-butterfly-numbers-hit-by-cold-wet-spring-aoe). The Annual Big Butterfly Count should clarify the extent of the population declines seen in these solar-powered marvels.
