Plants We Used to Use 3. Figwort

Figworts have about 200 species world-wide. The scientific name of their genus Scrophularia gives a clue to a former use. Scrofula was a disfiguring TB infection of the lymph glands in the neck. Herbalists, in the days before antibiotics, used extracts of figwort as a treatment for the condition.
