This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

A Right Royal Covid Infection?
Synchronicity doesn't prove causation. In spite of this, sections of the UK media are linking the recent surge in Covid19 infections to the weekend celebrations of the Platinum Jubilee (https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/uk-world-news/expert-links-uk-covid-surge-7213139). Although causation cannot be established, wide-spread street parties, singing and gatherings for open-air concerts, are effective means of stimulating air-bourne viral transmission. If nothing else, these recent events should serve as a reminder not to get too close and personal in crowds.
