This is a very impressive exhibition at London's Barbican. It uses combinations of video, art and music to get the public to think about rainforest destruction, the role of humans in nature (both historical and possible) and whether we can live in a 'greener' way. There are fascinating displays of new building materials, fabric for our clothes etc. It even discusses whether the entire human population could live in a single mega-city, leaving the rest of the planet for nature. It's both thought-provoking and very attractive.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
