This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Running Out of Excuses?
Three former United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) executive secretaries have noted that, for 50 years, world governments have failed to act on climate change (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jun/02/for-50-years-governments-have-failed-to-act-on-climate-change-no-more-excuses). There have been many, worthy-sounding pledges. Governments have always found, however, a compelling reason not to do things 'at this precise moment'. The former UNFCCC officials maintain that this cannot go on. The climate change dangers are becoming ever more evident. It also appears that one can always nominate a war and/or an economic crisis, as a reason for inaction. They say there can be no more excuses. We are essentially 'running out of road'.
