Two Contaminants For One!

On the shores of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spanish scientists have discovered a novel type of coastal pollution (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jun/13/plastitar-mix-of-tar-and-microplastics-is-new-form-of-pollution-say-scientists). The pollution, termed plastitar, is a mixture of tar and microplastics. This discovery confirms that microplastics are incredibly wide-spread in marine environments. It could, however, suggest ways of removing plastics from seawater (without encouraging oil pollution)?
