This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Complacency Rules, OK?
The World Health Organisation (WHO) is predicting a 2022 winter wave of deaths from Covid19 infections. Bizarrely, the new UK government is making a 63% reduction in its advertising budget for the NHS English vaccination programme this year (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/sep/07/ministers-cut-nhs-covid-jabs-ad-budget-by-63-despite-winter-wave-fears). This reduction seems very oddly timed, especially when many elderly folk mistakenly believe that Covid19 is no longer a killer. The WHO (and others) think that Covid19 vaccinations are likely to become an annual event (like seasonal 'flu).
