Piping Hot?

Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 are Russian-owned pipelines, that cross the Baltic Sea, taking methane gas to Europe. Overnight, both have developed mysterious faults (https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/sep/26/nord-stream-2-pipeline-pressure-collapses-mysteriously-overnight). The older Nord Stream 1, has 2 leaks. One in Swedish and the other in Danish waters. The nearby, Nord Stream 2 has suffered a dramatic fall in gas pressure at its German terminus. Irrespective of how these faults occurred, it is a clear illustration of the dangers of piping methane over considerable distances. Methane is a much more potent 'greenhouse gas' than is carbon dioxide. Leaky 'natural gas' pipelines will just exacerbate global heating. The gas is not even providing any energy.
