This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Amazon: We Have a Problem!
Jeff Bezos has reportedly been dreaming of going into space, since he was 5 years old (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/jun/07/jeff-bezos-to-go-into-space-on-first-crewed-flight-of-new-shepard-rocket). The CEO of Amazon (the supplier of online orders not the 'lungs of the planet') used part of his considerable wealth to set up the 'Blue Origins' rocket ship programme. He, along with other rich folk (namely Elon Musk and Richard Branson) all want to enable 'space tourism'. Now, comes the news that Bezos, his brother and a mega rich A.N. Other, will be on the first crewed flight in July. Space tourism shouldn't even be contemplated, as the planet tries to limit 'greenhouse gas' emissions, in an attempt to control climate change. Stopping this nonsense by the mega-rich, might cause temper tantrums but I really don't care!
