This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Wet, Wet, Wet
Climate change means that weather gets much less predictable. Parts of the S-E of England have just had a month's worth of rainfall in 24 hours (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/jun/19/flood-alerts-in-england-after-months-worth-of-rain-falls-in-24-hours). The English Environmental Agency has also issued 39 flood alerts this weekend for London, its surrounding areas, the West Midlands and Wiltshire. We usually have hose pipe bans (stopping people watering their lawns) in these areas, at this time of the year!
