This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Prematurely Green?
Portugal was the only traditional holiday location on the UK 'green list' (locations that can be visited without a requirement to quarantine on return). It has now been removed from the list due to rising infections with Covid19 (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/jun/03/england-covid-travel-restrictions-green-list-update). Somewhat fortuitously, Portugal lost its green status after the Cup Final involving two English teams in that country. As one might predict, airlines and travel agencies are unhappy. This seems to confirm that the very idea of foreign holidays for Brits was somewhat premature!
