This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Do You Really Need More Evidence?
Predictions that the climate crisis will inevitably lead to more extreme weather events, hardly need repeating. We have had 'relentless' rain and flooding in South Africa (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/apr/24/south-africa-floods-rain-climate-crisis-extreme-weather). Simultaneously, we have raging wildfires in New Mexico (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/apr/24/thousands-forced-to-flee-as-wildfires-sweep-through-new-mexico), spreading to Arizona (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/apr/22/arizona-tunnel-fire-wildfire-new-mexico). Houston, we clearly have a problem! Having said that, some Australians appear to have short-term memory problems (https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/apr/24/barnaby-joyce-refuses-to-use-term-energy-transition-because-it-equals-unemployment). It's not rocket science: no reliable climate equals no viable economy!
