Methane Up Again!
Methane is a 'greenhouse gas' that is 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Fortunately, it persists in the atmosphere for a much shorter time. At Cop26, the US President pledged to bring down the levels of methane. It seemed like an easy win (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/apr/08/methane-earth-atmosphere-record-high-usa-government-data). Methane in the atmosphere, originates from a) rotting vegetation; b) belching cattle and c) escaped effluent when drilling for oil and gas. US Government records have shown record levels of atmospheric methane for a second successive year.
