This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Down-under Climate Change 'Pledges' : The Flakiest Yet?
A campaigning Australian Coalition candidate seems happy to describe his country's net zero 'commitment' to the UN as 'not binding' (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-crisis). The candidate for climate change describes 'commitment to net zero by 2050' (probably way too late, anyhow) as being a 'flexible plan that leaves us wiggle room'. He seems to have been watching too many popular Australian kid's programmes? Let's hope his wiggling doesn't turn out to be a response to yet more wild fires, licking at his clothing.
