This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Taking (Away) the Piss?
One in six UK women have an overactive bladder. This can result in a sudden urge to 'pee' (urinate). Some such women are given bladder training. Others, where the bladder training didn't work, are prescribed Aquitette pills. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is now asking women, with mild symptoms using Aquitette, to provide written evidence (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/apr/23/overactive-bladder-drug-could-be-made-over-the-counter-in-uk). The MHRA is looking at the possibility of changing regulations, to allow Aquitette to be 'bought over the counter'. Making the drug non-prescription, would make it much more easily available to more folk. Here's hoping they get a stream of information!
