This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

All or Nothing?
The European Commission is presenting a plan to fully reopen to Covid vaccinated foreign tourists from June (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/may/03/eu-plans-to-reopen-to-fully-covid-vaccinated-foreign-tourists-from-june). This seems, at first sight, welcome news for UK folk desiring a European 'foreign' holiday. Not so fast! An EU official has warned that the UK will only get a 'green light' for its tourists if it shows 'a reciprocal willingness to open its borders to all EU citizens'. This seems improbable, as many EU countries are unlikely to make the UK's own 'green list'. It will be interesting to see whether such an 'all or nothing' arrangement holds.
