This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. Plants We Used To Use 316. Nettle
Young Nettle (Urtica dioica) leaves can be used to make curries, as well as herb and sour soups. The leaves are rich in vitamins C and A. In traditional medicine, nettle 'tea' was employed for joint pain; anaemia and eczema. It was also claimed to help stimulate milk production, in nursing mothers.
