This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Happy Bunnies?
Animal controversies also occur in France. Agnes Poirier reports the case of the circa 300 wild rabbits, currently occupying and breeding on and under the lawns of Les Invalides in Paris. These rabbits gambol around Napoleon's tomb but have reportedly caused more than £300,000 of damage to electrical cables etc. After failing to liquidate them, the French army had a plan to deport the bunnies to Breau, a small village, 70 km South-East of Paris. This, however, is still being resisted by members of Paris Animaux Zoopolis, who think the process will stress the rabbits (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/mar/08/paris-wild-rabbits-animals-rodin-les-invalides). Poirier's solution is to donate our furry friends to a well-regarded, 2-Michelin Star chef, with a restaurant near Les Invalides.
